TEHRAN – A new book by musician and composer Mostafa- Kamal Purtorab, famous for his books on music, was introduced during a ceremony at Tehran’s Art Bureau on Sunday.

Entitled “A Method to Perform Time Heterogeneous Subdivisions of Right and Left Hands in Piano”, the book has been published by Sureh-Mehr Publications.

The ceremony was attended by prominent musicians including pianist Shahdad Rohani, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Music Office Mohammad Sarir, conductor of Iran’s National Orchestra Farhad Fakhreddini and veteran musician Naser Cheshmazar.

Life and books by the 91-year old master was the main focus of a documentary screened for the participants at the ceremony.

Pointing to the book by the master, Sarir said that he believes the book means to show that everything has logic for its extraordinary part.

Rohani recalled his memories when he was a student at the Boys’ Music School and Purtorab was its manager where he learned a lot from the master.

“Purtorab has made great efforts for the music of this country and I am happy he still continues his activity and I wish a longer life for the master,” Fakhreddini said.

Cheshmazar expressed his thanks to the master for his due attention to the improvement of music in the country.

Managing Director of Sureh-Mehr Mohammad Hamzezadeh said that his publishing firm tries to be active in publishing books on music.

“I believe productive thoughts and ideas can find their ways into people’s minds only through publications,” Hamzezadeh said.

Purtorab thanked all the participants and said that he has spent all his life on music and that he even chose not to have any children to dedicate his life to music.

“I lost my wife 12 years ago and now I only write books and I have this honor to have educated the greatest musicians of this country with the simplest words,” he concluded.

“Theory of Music” published by Cheshmeh Publication last year is among the master’s credits.
